True Form

Every chair originates from a form that exists before the object itself: a drawing, a set of instructions, a specification, or an idea in the maker's mind. Over time, production, use, repair, modification, and wear move the object away from that form. What survives are individual interpretations.

The original form can rarely be observed directly. It must be inferred from incomplete evidence. Dimensions, proportions, recurring relationships, and traces of manufacturing intent provide clues to what once existed.

The acrylic elements represent a hypothesis. Identical within each set, they express an interpretation of the true form derived from the surviving chairs. Because every chair differs slightly from that interpretation, the acrylic fits none of them perfectly.
