Art in Use

The chairs remain functional. They can be sat on, moved, and repaired. As historical artifacts, they are intended for thoughtful use.
Use is not separate from the work. Scratches, wear, repairs, accidents, and adaptations become part of the artifact's history. The chairs are not preserved at a fixed moment in time, but continue to change through interaction with people and their environment.
The interventions are replaceable. Acrylic elements can be repaired, remade, or modified as needed, while the chairs retain evidence of their past and present lives. The story of each chair continues through use.
