K556 I-II Domestication
These bentwood chairs belong to the tradition established by Michael Thonet in the nineteenth century. Designed and built for the public life of cafés and restaurants, they instead spent decades in private homes, where they were repaired, altered, refinished and adapted over time.
The intervention preserves the accumulated changes while introducing a new transparent seat, allowing the chairs to continue their lives as functional objects.
